Itinerary: 6 Days in Morocco Tour from Casablanca to Marrakech

Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Fes.

After breakfast, your visit to Casablanca includes a visit to the port; the ancient medina; Mohamed V Square, a bustling shopping street surrounded by residential districts dating back to the 1930s; United Nations Square, Designed by French architect Joseph Marrast; The League of Arab States Park, built-in 1925, offers a large green area with palm trees, arches, pergolas and cafes with shaded terraces. Then visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque (closed to tourists on Fridays), the second-largest mosque in the world.

In the afternoon we will arrive in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, 1 2 hours by car. See the ancient medina; the picturesque Kasbah des Oudayas and the gate of Oudaya, built during the Almohad dynasty. See also the well-preserved Hassan Tower and Chellah, which were built by the Marinids in the 12th and 13th centuries. He enters the mausoleum of Mohamed V, the burial place of the father of the current king.

Then the road to Meknes was founded in the 9th century by Zenata Berbers. A visit to this ancient imperial city of Morocco includes the ancient walls; the Agoudal basin, which once served to irrigate the royal gardens and entertain the favorite concubines; and the royal stables Moulay Ismaïl, granaries, and House of Water (Dar El Ma)built in the 17th and 18th centuries to house, feed and water the sultan’s twelve thousand horses. Finally, see Bab El Mansour, one of the most beautiful gates of Morocco; and the Moulay Ismaïl Mausoleum. Then departure for Fez. Night in Fez.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Fes

After breakfast in your Riad, you will begin to explore the oldest city of Morocco “Fez”. Fes is so rich in culture, traditions, and gastronomy. It is known in Morocco as the capital culture of the country. This tour will allow you to walk in its oldest medieval medina, its alleys and small streets. You will visit the Royal Palace Gate, the Blue Gate, and the Jewish Quarter, the first Mellah built in Morocco, built during the 14th century. You can enjoy the best cultural and historical attractions, such as the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the world, the tanneries, and the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. After lunch, you will visit the tile cooperative and then enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the entire Medina of Fez. Accommodation in the same Riad.

Day 3: Fez - Ifran - Azrou - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Sahara Desert.

After breakfast, you will leave Fez for the Sahara through Midelt and the Ziz valley. Today you will travel through the city of Ifrane, a beautiful mountain village, called the Switzerland of Morocco. Here, too, you will stop in the cedar forest in the Atlas Mountains. During this trip, you will experience flashes of the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountains and stop at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you can see the monkeys of Barbarism. After that, your journey continues to Midelt along the beautiful hills and mountains of the Atlas. After lunch in Midelt, you will cross the charming Tiz Ntalghamt Pass and the spectacular Ziz Gorge, enjoy the view of the High Atlas Plateau and see the changing landscape to reveal desert signs when approaching the southeast province of the city of Errachidia. Then you will cross the fantastic valley of Ziz, stopping to enjoy panoramic views on the road to Erfoud and Rissani. Arriving in Merzouga in the afternoon, you will be greeted with a glass of mint tea. Then, take a camel ride through the dunes of the Sahara desert of Merzouga to get to the camp where you will spend the night.

Day 4: Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley.

Today you will have to get up very early in the morning to see what will be the best dawn of your life. You can set above the sand dunes of the Sahara of Erg Chebbi to see the wonderful sunrise. After watching the sunrise you descend to the camp for breakfast. Then you can quietly camel-trekking back to the village of Merzouga. While you enjoy the morning camel ride you might not appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular sand dunes of Erg Chebbi – changing with the light as the day progresses.

Once you reach the village of Merzouga, you will meet again with the driver to continue the tour to Dades. You will have the opportunity to make an optional stop in Rissani to visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the Alaouit dynasty, and then continue on to Erfoud to visit the fossilized marble factory before continuing towards the valley of Todra, where you will have lunch. Once in Todra, you can stand out for a half-hour walk to see the gorges calmly and you will be guided through the palm grove and the Jewish quarter. Todra gorges are the highest and narrowest in Morocco. The Todra River has formed a gorge of enormous vertical walls of great beauty; it is a paradise for climbers and a unique place.

In the evening, we will cross the Dades Valley, where you will see the majestic sand castles and the incredible rock formations known as “monkey fingers”. The night will be in a luxury guesthouse overlooking the Dades Valley.

Day 5: Dades Gorge - Ouarzazate - Kasbah Ait Benhadou - Marrakech.

After breakfast, we leave for Boumalne du Dades, a large city and local administrative center at the foot of the gorges, followed by a series of kasbahs, El Kelaa des Mgouna and Skoura. After Skoura, the palm trees are replaced by orchards and irrigated gardens. Roses to make perfume are the specialty of the Kelaa des Mgouna. Paris, the famous perfume of Yves Saint Laurent is made from the extract of these roses. Here you will find a beautiful shop of rose products such as rose water, body milk, dried petals, etc… Continue to the center of the Ouarzazate film industry. An afternoon tour of Ouarzazate includes the 17th century Kasbah Taourirt, which hosted the Pacha Glaoui.
Drive to Ait Ben Haddou’s ancient Kasbah complex, an impressive 11th-century structure that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ait Ben Haddou, the wonderland of a photographer, is still the home of five families.
Continue through a mountainous and semi-desert landscape and continue over the High Atlas Mountains to the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (7,400 feet). Continue through the fertile countryside of the plain of Haouz to the pink city of Marrakech at night.

Day 6: Marrakech SightSeeing.

A half-day tour of Marrakech begins with a tour of the Medina. Admire the small Saadian pavilion reflected in the calm waters with the Atlas Mountains and olive groves in the background. This pavilion was used by the sultans for romantic interludes.
Then enter the ancient Medina, buried inside the imperial walls. Stop at the foot of the famous Koutoubia minaret, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. Continue to the Kasbah, a 16th-century monument of the Saadian tombs. The marvelous Hispano-Moorish architecture that surrounds the tombs of the royal family should be emphasized. Then visit the aristocratic Bahia Palace with its lush Moorish-style garden and beautifully painted residential rooms.

Finally, take a stroll on the famous Jemaa El Fna Square, the former meeting place for traders in North-West Africa. Enjoy a three-course lunch in one of the best restaurants in the city. The afternoon is to your liking. It is recommended to relax in the pool, return to the souks for shopping, or visit the interesting Dar Si Said Museum.
